Explorer Post 803

LVAC’s 2011 Explorers

The Explorer Post #803 is a division of the Boy Scouts Of America for people who are between 14 and 18 years old. It is an excellent opportunity for those who are interested in helping people who are sick or injured.

When you sign up, you attend two meetings a month. The meetings are from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. During those meeting you are taught a basic first aid course, which lasts for 6 months. Explorers are also taught CPR during the course. Explorers will become familiar with the ambulance and its equipment. After six months, if the advisors feel you are ready, you will then be given a preceptor (an active member of LVAC) and you will go on calls with them.

In addition to learning first aid skills, Explorers will also be involved with blood pressure clinics, and are very helpful with all LVAC activities.
