LVAC participates in search and rescue drill

LVAC joined other local first responders July 17 for a search and rescue drill in Depew. Teams performed a line search of a wooded area to find two reported "victims" of an ATV accident. The area had live train tracks, a ravine and many slopes and trees. LVAC had two ambulances and nine volunteers on scene to provide first aid to search and rescue teams and treat the victims once they were located. The drill utilized the Incident Command System, which is a tool to coordinate emergency response. The agencies held a debriefing after the drill to discuss how it went. Other agencies included the Depew, Lancaster, Crittenden and Alden Fire Departments and Lancaster Office of Emergency Management.
