LVAC’s 60th anniversary celebration was featured on the front page of the Jan. 10 edition of the Lancaster Bee. Headlined “Lifesavers continue to meet the challenge,” the article chronicled the corps’ history and its bright future. Founding member Paul Welker and President Chester Popiolkowski were interviewed for the story.

The Bee also published an editorial “Depew, Lancaster fortunate, thankful for the LVAC” in the same edition.

LVAC will mark its 60th anniversary with a dinner on Feb. 9 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. A special commemorative program, titled “Continuing to Meet the Challenge,” will be published for the event, and businesses and individuals in the community are encouraged to sponsor the congratulatory book.
